Your Body and You

“Your Body and You” is a conversation featuring young parent leaders Blanca Goetz and Emma Johnson, as well as sex educator Victoria Ogunleye. They discuss why it’s important to understand your reproductive system and how online interactive body models can make learning about anatomy easier. They tackle common misconceptions about bodily anatomy and sexual health and discuss the different options young people have when they are expecting. Your hosts this episode:

Victoria Ogunleye is a certified clinical sexologist and sexuality educator with over nine years of experience in the sexual and reproductive health field. As a queer Nigerian-American, her work focuses on trauma-informed care, Black feminism, and intersectionality. She has trained over 200 peer sexual wellness educators and has taught sex education in K-12 public and private schools, colleges, and community-based organizations. During her time at Planned Parenthood and Advocates for Youth, she positively impacted the lives of many young people through her commitment to education and advocacy. Victoria facilitates workshops on various topics, including reproduction, consent, and sexual health. Currently, her efforts concentrate on sexual liberation, LGBTQIA+ issues, and providing coaching for individuals, couples, and groups. Blanca Goetz is a young parent leader from Rhode Island, working to improve outcomes for youth and young parents impacted by the child welfare system. She has spent over a decade pushing for stronger policies, programs, and services both locally and nationally. Blanca is a published author, and has played a key role in expanding the age limit for foster care in Rhode Island, and helped pass critical legislation through her work with a local youth board.

Emma Johnson is a young parent leader from Nebraska dedicated to expanding resources and support for youth and young parents in—and transitioning out of—the foster care system. She works with the Southeast Nebraska Collaborative, an organization focused on building a strong, community-based prevention system. Emma has also partnered with the Nebraska Children and Families Foundation on initiatives that support young people in foster care.
